Are you feeling a lack of fulfillment or too much stress in some aspect of your life? Have you been struggling with feelings of depression or anxiety? Or are you coping with a big loss or life transition that has shaken your foundation causing you to feel overwhelmed? I believe that increased awareness about our own unique mixture of vulnerabilities can show us the skills we need to develop so we can thrive. Through therapy, verbalizing our conflicts in innovative ways can help us gain a richer perspective that can lead to new outcomes and lasting change.

I am a skilled empathic listener often helping those I work with to utilize their major life transitions for generating healthier outcomes. People like my warm authentic style of respectful questioning and honest feedback. I work with individuals, families, couples, children, teens and young adults as well as and older adults. As we take steps together I will endeavor to help you regain your wisdom and feel empowered to live the life you want.

My background is in person-centered therapy, bringing unconditional positive regard for clients with the knowledge that they are inherently whole with a natural capacity for growth and change. I use a core vulnerability approach to help people understand the role of defense mechanisms and mindfulness based approach to offer an understanding of why we suffer and how to ameliorate it. I also help clients understand how multiple vulnerabilities can impact their lives, especially in times of stress. Informed by clients’ needs and goals I utilize a variety of approaches: mindfulness modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness Based stress Reduction as well as expressive therapies; psychodynamic; cognitive therapy and motivational interviewing. I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, divorce and separation, intimacy and relationships, parenting, substance use and trauma.

Specialties:

  • Trauma:

  • Aging

Services:

  • Somatic Experiencing: You learn to track sensations in your body, as well as to make room for any accompanying emotions. I help you renegotiate the trauma, emotional or physical, by working through the stuck places in your body’s nervous system.
  • Somatic Experiencing Touch: I help you become more resilient to traumatic experiences, including illness, syndromes, falls, car accidents, and surgeries. This is done mainly lying on a treatment table, using gentle touched-based methods. This work helps you increase your capacity to manage anxiety and stress.
  • Both types help with traumatic life events and work well with issues of early childhood as well as difficult experiences at any stage of life. Car accidents, falls & surgeries can often be cleared in 2-4 sessions.

Insurance:

  • Out of network in NYC only
