“Margo’s insights and guidance have given me a new perspective on self-care and what it means to live a more whole and balanced life. I’d recommend woking with her to anyone!” —CW

I am a licensed psychotherapist and coach with over two decades of experience helping people break free from self-abandonment — the hidden pattern that quietly sabotages relationships, careers and self-worth.

Are you successful in much of your life, but struggle in certain with self-esteem or relationships? Through my approach, you’ll learn how to become securely self-attached: rooted in a strong, stable sense of who you are, no longer thrown off course by others’ opinions or old wounds. With that foundation, you can finally move forward— confidently and on your own terms—toward the life you actually want.

When we are lacking that sense of meaning or fulfillment stress increases in many aspects of your life. Have you been struggling with feelings of depression or anxiety? Or are you coping with a big loss or life transition that has shaken your foundation causing you to feel overwhelmed? I believe that increased awareness about our own unique mixture of vulnerabilities can show us the skills we need to develop so we can thrive. Through therapy, verbalizing our conflicts in innovative ways can help us gain a richer perspective that can lead to new outcomes and lasting change.

Whatever your background or the challenges you’re facing, I’m here to listen — really listen — and work alongside you, creatively and collaboratively, toward the change you’re seeking. My training in psychotherapy, social work, and ontological coaching means I can meet you wherever you are, across a wide range of issues and life experiences. It would be an honor to help you build a more fulfilling life.

My eclectic approach includes Cognitive Therapy, EMDR for trauma processing, Polyvagal Nervous SystemTheory, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, inner child work, art therapy and mindfulness practices. I help many clients recognize the role of self-abandonment and shame—the first step for becoming securely self-attached. I coach clients in cultivating a more loving inner parent who can counteract the background noise of the inner critic.

What to expect from a therapy session? Our first step is to talk about what you want to accomplish in therapy. Aware of your goals, which may evolve over time, we will explore current challenges along with childhood experiences that may still be impacting you. As you become more present to your vulnerabilities and skillful in managing them, your self-efficacy, self-esteem and happiness will grow.

Movement Matters Integrative Psychotherapy

Imagine what it could be like to feel more like yourself, more at home in your body, and more fully alive.

I am the director of Movement Matters, a somatic therapy practice. We specialize in helping people move beyond trauma, anxiety, relationship struggles, the stress of big life changes, and feeling disconnected from yourself.

Many of our clients have been in talk therapy before and want something different, or simply know they are looking for a somatic or body-based approach to therapy.

At Movement Matters, we believe that real change happens when we work with the whole self, including the mind and body, and get underneath the surface to explore the stories and patterns that have shaped how we move through life.

We love somatic therapy (a body-based approach) because it gets us away from talking in circles, and helps us dive under the surface, taking the work deeper.

Somatic therapy helps us move out of our head and creates new pathways for relating to our experience. It invites your body and your imagination into the conversation and helps you integrate change in your life.

The mind and body can’t be separated. We’ll talk and think about your experiences, but they live in your body and also in the parts of your brain that don’t use words. So when we work with the mind and body together, and use your imagination and creativity, it can take healing and growth to a new level.

Our Approaches Include:

  • Somatic therapy
  • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
  • Movement psychotherapy
  • Expressive & creative arts therapy, including dance/movement psychotherapy
  • EMDR

Imagine what it would be like to:

Feel more free to be yourself and have more joy in your relationships, work, and daily life

Be more at home in your body, feeling more settled, relaxed, and grounded

Feel less trapped in cycles of overthinking, knowing you can trust yourself and your instincts
